Labonte Invites Community Out for Event
TRINITY, N.C. (August 19, 2015) – Counting down the days to the Bobby Labonte Foundation “Tour de Reason” Bike Ride, Foundation founder Bobby Labonte is inviting everyone from the local Triad to Charlotte and throughout the Carolinas to come out and join him on Saturday morning, August 29 for a morning of fun, whether you cycle or not.
Although the day will be highlighted by the annual cycling event featuring cyclists from throughout North Carolina and beyond, including Asheville’s own 2012 Olympic Silver Medalist Lauren Tamayo,Labonte is personally inviting the local community to come and enjoy the event. Sure to be a highlight of the day will be the opportunity to win an autographed race helmet signed by the 2000 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion through a raffle drawing.
The event begins with the cyclist’s departure from downtown Thomasville at 8:30am on either a 35- or 64-mile cycling tour of Davidson and Randolph counties and festivities continue through noon. Those who attend can cheer on the participants as they start and finish the ride and enjoy live entertainment, various vendor booths and wander the quaint downtown Thomasville Main Street shops.
All proceeds from the event and the helmet raffle will benefit two important causes: Communities;in Schools Backpack Pals and Bicycling in Greensboro. The ride will benefit Communities;in Schools Backpack Pals program in the City of Thomasville and also throughout Randolph County. The program sends backpacks home with children at the end of the school week, filled with nutritious meals for those who would not normally have food over weekends. The event will also benefit programs designed to further cycling safety including Bicycling in Greensboro through People for Bikes.;
“We are very thankful to Archdale Drug and all our partners who continue to support the ride,” saidLabonte. “Our mission it to make a difference in the lives of children in our communities and to raise awareness of cycling safety. We could not do it without the support of our partners. We’re looking forward to a fun and successful ride again to support some great causes.”
The ride will originate in downtown Thomasville, at the Clock Tower parking lot located at 32 East Main Street. In addition, SAG and lead vehicles will work with the local police and fire departments to ensure a professional and safe event. A light breakfast will be provided along with new and improved rest stops on the course.
All pre-registered participants will receive a t-shirt and event gift bag. Plus, for those who raise $300 for the Bobby Labonte Foundation, you will receive an official Bobby Labonte Foundation 2015 Tour de Reason jersey and bib shorts;
