Local Charities Benefiting Children and Families Encouraged to Apply for Grants
The Bobby Labonte Foundation, founded by NASCAR champion race car driver and High Point businessman Bobby Labonte, is now accepting grant applications from local non-profit organizations that support the foundation’s mission. The grants are funded through the annual Bobby Labonte Foundation Charity Bike Ride, which will roll through High Point, N.C. on September 7, 2019.
The application deadline is Friday, April 26, 2019. Non-profit organizations located in Davidson, Randolph, Guilford and Forsyth Counties are encouraged to apply. Eligible organizations must be seeking grant funding for programs or other efforts designed to empower parents and families and build strong foundations for children’s future success.
Organizations can receive an application and review all application procedures and deadlines via e-mail and the Bobby Labonte Foundation website. Applicants must also submit proof of 501(c)(3) status when applying. Grant recipients will be announced by May 31, 2019.

The Bobby Labonte Foundation was recently awarded the 2018 Community Organization of the Year by Business High Point – Chamber of Commerce for its fundraising events and past support of four local non-profits supporting children and families.
“We want to continue to reach out to the Triad community and give non-profit organizations that support families an opportunity to apply for a grant,” said Bobby Labonte. “In 2018, we embraced forward-thinking organizations who really worked to improve the futures of children and their families. That focus remains for us this year. The process of selecting the grant recipients is always challenging, but my foundation and our volunteers continue to be inspired by the organizations we support. We look forward to the opportunity to help even more children this year, so we encourage organizations to apply and give us their best pitch.”
All grant recipients are required to support the foundation’s Charity Bike Ride on September 7 by providing volunteers and manning a rest stop. Last year’s organizations created themes, brought music and wore costumes, and engaged cyclists along the route. Event organizers anticipate 400 to 600 cyclists will participate in 2019.
